Try a Used Roadtrek RV Now!

Try a Used Roadtrek RV Now!
by Nicky Pilkington

If you are considering buying a used RV, why not get a used RoadTrek?

The RoadTrek is superior in terms of stability as it has a lower center of gravity compared to RVs by other manufacturers. For better weight distribution, the water tanks are located close to the axles. With a much longer wheelbase (compared to the overall length) a Roadtrek provides unsurpassed highway stability. (A Roadtrek 190's length is only 58% longer than its wheelbase compared to 91% for a 22' B+ motorhome with a 138" wheelbase.) It also has excellent suspension, steering and braking capabilities of the chassis.

It has a Chevrolet's body-on-frame construction, a short rear overhang, "normal" and "towing" transmission modes, and an optional locking differential with external transmission cooler (n/a on 170 and Sprinter) to provide superior towing performance.

As the Roadtrek is small, it is easy to park. As the Chevy based Roadtreks don't even look like motorhomes, you can avoid RV parking restrictions and park at regular spaces.

A Roadtrek is more than just a family camper. You might even purchase it as a second vehicle for the family. It has 6 forward facing seats with seatbelts. The cost of owning and operating a Roadtrek is far lower than a second vehicle in the driveway AND a motorhome in storage! In addition to that, RVs depreciate slow compared to an ordinary car and Roadtrek RVs have higher resale value compared to other motorhomes.

Thanks to its aerodynamic shape and lower overall size and weight, Roadtreks are not fuel guzzlers. The lowered floor on Chevy models allows a low, sweeping roof. The heat pump (air conditioner & heater) is built into the rear, with only the flush-mounted grills visible from the rear. The refrigerator vent is disguised and integrated into a black louvered grill in the galley window while the fresh water fill is securely located inside a passenger side or rear door. This is to prevent tampering. For superior ventilation, the Roadtreks have large frameless awning windows that not only look better and provide superior view but protects from the rain and reduce wind noise.

Other features that are standard in Roadtreks, may not be found in other RVs. Some include the built-in sewage hose system on the 170 and 190; macerator sewage pump on the 210 and RS; cloverleaf dining table; temporarily enclosed bathroom/privacy area; stand-up aisle shower; lowered floor; built-in heat pump; exterior storage compartments below the floor; under-floor tanks; dual layer foam beds and more.

Considering all these additional features, you may consider to purchase a used Roadtrek RV as your first camper van that is ideal for your domestic vacation.

Land Rover: The Defender Still Holding Up to Its Name
01.10.06 (2:39 pm)   [edit]

The Defender Still Holding Up to Its Name
by Carol Mitchel

The Land Rover Defender has been sold in the United States during the years 1993, 1994, 1995, and 1997. This vehicle has been respected throughout the world for its capabilities on the off road. Along that line, the ultra-rugged Land Rover Defender has earned its merit and worth in endurance motor sports events that include the famous Paris-Dakar rally. This vehicle had first the U.S. market scene in the fall of 1992 and was then introduced the next year. It featured soft- and hardtop versions. It then became an icon that had defined the Land Rover in the years to come.

Land Rover, the brand, is the leader as a four-wheel drive specialist, and the Land Rover Defender is the ultimate off roader. It has simplicity, yet has unequalled strength and renowned ability that makes it sure-footed and quite unstoppable. Be the road your treading be high altitude mountain trails, hot desert sands crossings, or deep wading through rivers, the Land Rover Defender has been able to handle these, thus getting its moniker as the world's toughest 4X4. It is able to handle these along with towing, winching, carrying, and protecting.

This vehicle has a very powerful Td5 2.5 liter diesel engine that has been specifically tuned for off road expeditions and challenges. Also, the Land Rover Defender's engine is controlled by the throttle mapping system that has the capability to allow different levels of accelerator travel that is quite dependent in the range of gearing selected. A robust dual range transfer box provides control of its engine torque. It gives drivers of the Defender a high and low ratio, along with ten forward and two reverse gears. With this, the choice of gearing thus allows this vehicle to have the power to go uphill or, otherwise, to have the safety during crawling at extreme angles over loose earth.

To preserve the Land Rover Defender's amazing performance during off road travails, a one of a kind online store is available to provide owners with super durable parts with equally impressive performance just like the Defender's status. By simply going to Land Rover Parts and Range Rover Parts customers can go through the website's hassle-free online shopping for parts that will make the Land Rover Defender live up to its name.

A new model in replace of the Land Rover Defender has been in the planning stages for years. The design that it was last seen with is actually over twenty years of age, and in comparison to the Land Rovers of the 1950s, could be quite noticed that updates are only in the slightest of forms. With most of the vehicles nowadays, private or commercial, are modernized and thus offer a significant increase in levels of performance, comfort, and requirement, the Defender is again in competition with Japanese products. These products from Japan offer lesser off road abilities but provide promises of better comfort levels. Supposed to be due in the year 2007 is the Defender's replacement, however, due to costs of building new Defenders using new methods has made this vehicle profitable once again so much so that its replacement has become a lesser priority.

Where To Get Great Used Cars

Where To Get Great Used Cars
by Gregory Ashton

A franchised new car dealership is a reliable, if not the only, source for anyone who wants to buy a new car. But to those who prefer buying used or previously owned cars, there are plenty of options and sources one could choose from to be able to make that vehicle purchase the perfect one.

The following are some of the readily as well as easily available resources to consider when buying a used car.

The Used Car Superstore

Imagine it as the Wal-Mart of used cars. There have been numerous used car superstores that have mushroomed for the last five years. These superstores usually have a large inventory of used cars, more or less numbering from four hundred to five hundred vehicles. The cars found in these stores more often than not are late models. The vehicles found in these stores came from auctions that cater specially to car dealers. The good thing about buying from these used car superstores is that the warranty they provide are often equivalent to the warranty coverage provided by dealers who sell new cars. However, it is still best to compare.

How a complete IDIOT makes TONS OF CASH in the Internet - and HOW YOU CAN, TOO !!!  *

New Car Dealer or Retailer

The logic here is that since new car buyers usually trade in their old cars when they buy a new one, the collection that new car dealerships have are almost always extensive. So used car buyers have a wider range of vehicles to choose from. Also, new car dealerships provide better reconditioning to the used cars traded to them. They are also more reliable source of used cars because their business is more established compared to other used car dealers. Be aware though that sometimes it would take a lot of negotiation on the price of the vehicle to be purchased. They may also attempt to make you buy more cars than what you would actually need.

Used Car Dealers

There are a hundred used car dealerships in every area of the state. Sometimes, they occupy a small section that contains not more than fifteen cars in a lot. Other used car dealerships, usually the more established ones, have a total of one hundred cars in their vicinity. The great thing about buying from used car dealers is that the prices they offer are a lot less than new car dealerships. Also, it is fairly easier to negotiate with them. A little bit of not so good news though, the quality of these cars are usually less than the new ones of course. There are also not many great selections to choose from.

Private Owners

The good thing about buying from private owners, the price that they offer are usually reasonable compared to other dealers because this is in accordance with book values. One also would get the opportunity to actually speak with the owner of the vehicle and witness for yourself how the car was cared for or not so cared for. A potential disadvantage of this scenario, however, is that it could be a bit inconvenient driving to the private owner's place especially if one is considering looking at eight different cars. Basically that would be eight different places, time and appointments. Beware though; private owners who have a stable of used cars to sell may actually be a dealer. Do not be afraid to ask if you could possibly see the title and registration. Start to get suspicious if you see it has only been a few days old.

Car Auctions

The last decade has seen the development of public auctions for vehicles. Originally, auctions like these are reserved primarily for licensed car dealers. Now, even individuals have the opportunity to bid aggressively for used cars. The quality of these cars put up for auction, as well as the selections of vehicles, actually vary from one auction to another. There are those auctions which specialize dealing in late model vehicles while there are others which dedicate themselves to cheaper and less expensive vehicles. The good thing about buying used cars from auctions is that one could conveniently compare prices and cars because they are shown side by side with each other.

Also, the prices that they offer are most likely lower than they do dealerships. However, there is not much chance for one to thoroughly inspect the vehicle being auctioned off. And since one is buying from an auction, it is therefore understood that all sales are final. Any car purchased is automatically yours. Plus, the bidding frenzy could take a hold on anyone and there is a great possibility that one could pay way too much than what a vehicle actually costs.
